Local Literacy Leaders: Mayerson Academy and Orton-Gillingham

In our series on local literacy leaders, we share great resources.

Here in Cincinnati, the Mayerson Academy is doing some great work to help advance literacy. Their work includes professional learning, personal support, curriculum, classroom kids and fun stuff. Also in 2017, they received a grant to help advance Orton-Gillingham methods in our region from the Charles H. Dater Foundation. We are thrilled to see their work in our community.

Here is more from their resources for thriving-learning-communities.

Transform Your School Culture for Student Success

A love of learning. It’s what we want for all of our students – in every classroom, every day.

We want them to thrive. But we know this is not the experience for all of our students and it is more challenging than ever to create a positive learning environment critical to student success.

The Thriving Learning Communities program applies the science of character strengths to the practice of teaching and learning. This research-based approach to improving students’ social and emotional competencies through the lens of character strengths is designed to increase motivation, engagement, learning and performance.
